Chapter Six…

Nick’s Isle Part II… and there’s that silly clownfish near the bottom of the pic.

Obviously, during our last ‘show’, Nick and Lila were involved in a horrific plane crash and are now stranded on a deserted island. *shocker*   Also, Auna and Travis are ticked off at Lila for going with Nick in the first place. What will happen to our main characters now? Will they be able to survive? Will only one survive after killing the other? Will he/she feed off the other’s corpse in order to live? Just kidding, of course. Blah, blah, blah, blah…

And now, without further ado! Read on…

“Nick!” Lila shrieked, crying.

“I accidentally stepped on my glasses and broke them!”

…wait a second

(Lila’s nearsighted POV)

Why does it look as if Nick isn’t wearing pants?

“Why *sob* are you only wearing your boxers *sob*?”

“Because my pants are filthy. I’m trying to wash them in this pond or whatever it is.”

Lila figured his boxers might be a little more dirty than his pants, but she didn’t mention that.

*sob*

“Lila, I’m sorry about your glasses,” he soothed. “If it helps any, I’m sure they’re looking for us. They know our flight never showed up in L.A.”

“Yeah, but they don’t know it got lost either. Nobody knows where we are,” she wailed.

“Well, maybe a miracle will occur,” Nick said.

Suddenly, Lila stopped crying. “If you’re trying to cheer me up by touching me there, it’s working,” she said.

“In fact,” she continued, holding his face in her hands, “thank you for making me feel better.”

Nick wrapped his arms around her waist. “You’re welcome. Sorry again about your glasses. Hmmm, maybe it’s not so bad that we’re trapped on this island…” His body pressed closer to hers.

Lila’s eyes widened and she took a step back. For some reason, she felt uncomfortable.

They stood in silence for an eternity, as the sun rose behind them.

“Lila?” Nick asked, as if just seeing her for the first time. “Lila Harris? The Lila Harris from school?”

My God… he finally recognizes me!

“Y-yes? You remember me?”

“Of course I do!” he chuckled. “You’re Elle the Smell!”

Oh, no…

It seemed as though her childhood flashed before her eyes.

Elle the Smell; Elle the Smell; na-na-na, na-na-na…

Agh! You ****** ******!”  she screeched, lunging forward and shoving him to the ground.

“I’ll show you ‘Elle the Smell’! I’ll show you what you can do with your little pet name!”

“Ow, Lila. That kind of hurts, you know.”

“That’s the idea, Daffy!”

“OUCH!” he shouted as she pushed him down again.

“Looks like you trained me even better than what you thought, Nick.”

“Now if you ever call me that ******* name again, I’ll ******* kill you and feed off your body to survive on this island. Is that clear?!”

“Crystal.”

As morning progressed, Lila made the best of the situation by planting the seed she’d found earlier.

                                                             …

After smoothing out the small mound of dirt, Lila stood and wondered where Nick was.

Probably off somewhere nursing his many wounds inflicted by me, she thought without an ounce of guilt. In fact, she gloated about it. Serves him right. He finally remembers me, but only because he once tortured me. Well, I showed him, didn’t I?

Nick and Lila put their resentments aside, at least long enough to begin building a shelter.

Nick rummaged about the island, managing to find wood. He stacked it into a pile to use for the shelter.

Lila found a small tree and dug it up.

“Here’s a house plant for our new home,” she quipped, almost forgetting about their myriad of problems, including the fact that she hated Nick’s guts.

When evening arrived, the shelter was nearly finished. Nick fashioned some wood and sculpted a chair. He asked Lila to try it out first. Thankfully, she didn’t fall through the seat and the chair didn’t otherwise collapse into a pile of dust.

Next, Nick and Lila worked on creating a bench. An additional hour of blood, sweat and tears expired, and another place to sit was made.

Nick and Lila stood back to admire their mutual handiwork; secretly marveling over their newfound ability to work together, and achieve something other than a knock-out, drag-out fight.

Not bad for two people trapped on a desolate island without any materials to work with…

“Nick!” Lila cried, as he fell to the ground in exhaustion.

Oh, well. I’m sure he’ll be okay.

Lila was worried, but not because Nick passed out.

How are we going to survive on this island? How is Mom doing without me in Riverview? Does she think I’m dead by now? Thoughts cascaded and raced through her mind like the ocean tide over the beach. How long will it take for them to rescue us, if ever?? How the hell am I going to live with Daffy all that time until they do??!

Another hour or so passed. Stars invaded the nighttime sky, surrounding the moon like a cluster of jewels.

Nick awakened from his slumber upon the ground, and sat in the makeshift chair. He looked very depressed.

Nick’s eyes met Lila’s, and he gazed at her for a few moments.

“I’m sorry about earlier, Lila. I never realized that my teasing had affected you so deeply,” he said. “Will you ever forgive me?”

According to her expression, her answer was quite clear. Either that, or she’d smoked some serious weeds that were found on the island.

Without muttering any answer, Lila laid down on the ‘couch’ and drifted to sleep.

Odd visions of Bugs and Daffy danced in Lila’s head.

                                                       >__>

Lila’s dream took another bizarre turn. After Bugs was chewed out by Daffy, Bugs disappeared and was replaced by Nick, as he sat at the firepit on the island. Daffy strolled over to Nick.

“Why don’t you just forgive the poor, unworthy slob already *ptttt, ptttt*?!”

“Yeah Lila, why don’t you forgive me already? I said I was sorry. What more do you want?”

Lila said nothing.

Daffy sneered at Lila and said, “you’re diiispicable. *ptttt*”  (Author’s note: “ptttt” is Daffy blowing raspberries as he talks, in case you didn’t already know that).

Suddenly, Lila’s dreams were interrupted by flashes of crackling lightning. She bolted upright and watched as a storm brewed in the distance, an ominous sign of things to come.

Chapter Seven coming shortly. How will Nick and Lila fare through the violent storm? Will Lila ever forgive Nick for what he’d done? Will their relationship finally veer onto a far different path? 😛    😉
